As a successful entrepreneur in the toy industry, Patrick delves into how some of the most straightforward tasks can bring about mindfulness, stress relief, and foster stronger family ties. He discusses how in the current age, where an average family is largely consumed by digital screens, these distractions often rob away precious moments of family time. Patrick's puzzles are designed to draw children and parents alike, paving the way to positive engagements over dinner tables, ultimately contributing to better mental health.

Patrick's undeniable success can be gauged by the popularity of his puzzle products and his notable mentions in reputed media outlets such as Forbes and Channel 4.

On the topic of his achievements, Patrick speaks candidly about his proud moments including winning the coveted titles at the Junior Design Awards and the Independent Toy Awards in 2023.

Despite his impressive accomplishments, Patrick recounts his biggest achievement being the approval and pride of his family. He opens up about the disappointment of a missed opportunity on Dragons Den in 2020, but how it only fueled his desire to make his family proud.

In this intriguing conversation, audiences will get an insight into the importance of maintaining work-life balance, the power of simple tasks in stress relief, and the driving force behind passion and perseverance. Patrick’s remarkable story and his insightful sharing serve as a motivation for aspiring entrepreneurs and creators aiming to start their businesses.

00:00:00
Obviously adults can do the puzzle it wouldn't necessarily

00:00:02
be challenging for them but i think as an

00:00:05
adult you know we work we're stressed we come

00:00:08
home we eat badly you know we binge

00:00:11
on tv and actually or we binge on social

00:00:14
media right so actually you know half an hour to an

00:00:16
hour doing a puzzle is productive in

00:00:19
that you know it reduces your stress your anxiety it

00:00:23
kind of is a stress reliever and you're not scrolling

00:00:26
social media and getting depressed by other people's highlight right rules and

00:00:29
that sort of thing so although it's aimed at children adults

00:00:33
can still get value and it's still just you know a nice

00:00:35
thing that you can do that's just you know mindfulness basically which you know

00:00:39
we all need to hopefully well i think yeah we could all practice and do more

00:00:43
so you know we will possibly do adult puzzles in future but also i think there

00:00:48
is still value in what we have for adults at the moment so yeah that's that's

00:00:53
actually amazing i think you're,

00:00:55
saving families patrick because an average family of today's day and age on the dinner table.

00:01:01
Probably most of them are on their phones right and then

00:01:05
maybe the parent depending on what type of parent is the parent might accept

00:01:09
it may they may permit to they may allow it or they might be like hey get off

00:01:13
your phones you know we're going to talk as a family kind of thing and the person

00:01:17
or the kid might be like oh mommy daddy i don't really want to get involved

00:01:20
but with the puzzle It's like,

00:01:22
not only does the kid want to get involved, the parent wants to get involved as well.

00:01:26
So you're getting away from the TV, from the screens, from social media,

00:01:31
as you mentioned as well.

00:01:32
And then you're also improving their mental health because the more time was

00:01:37
absorbed by these screens, it's not very good for us. So you're doing,

00:01:42
you're hitting a lot of points with this puzzle and it's crazy.

00:01:45
Something as simple as a puzzle can do so many different things,

00:01:48
you know? So again, I just want to congratulate you for the work you've done.

00:01:52
I've seen you've been featured in quite, quite a few media press,

00:01:57
you know, Forbes, Channel 4 and the rest.

00:02:00
So you've got some really good PR out there as well.

00:02:03
In terms of achievements and stuff, talk us through achievements that you're

00:02:07
proud of. I mean, I know you were an award winner from the Junior Design Awards

00:02:11
and the Independent Toy Awards of 2023. Talk us quickly through that.

00:02:16
Yeah, no, thank you for that. I mean, I think really for me,

00:02:20
I think just starting and continuing is really my proudest achievement. I think...

00:02:28
Like, because, you know, we were, we got on Dragons Den in 2020 and it didn't

00:02:33
get on air and we didn't get funded.

00:02:35
I was really like, I was really taken aback. I was really saddened by it.

00:02:39
And I, because, you know, you feel like this could be life changing.

00:02:42
And yeah, no, it brought me to tears because really, I think the thing is,

00:02:48
the realization for me was like, just making my family proud.

00:02:52
It's really my goal, my aim and, you know, my biggest achievement and accomplishment.

00:02:57
I think everything else, all the awards, accolades, all the features, they're great.

00:03:02
And a lot of it is really luck. I mean, you can work hard, but there's a huge element of luck.

00:03:08
I think really just making my family proud and just being able to look my daughter

00:03:13
in the eye and honestly say, you know, I've tried and I've, you know,

00:03:18
I've given, you know, I've put in a good effort.

00:03:21
You know i can never not tell

00:03:24
her to follow her dreams because i know that you know i'm pursuing

00:03:27
mine and so i feel like just doing that alone that's that's the thing that i'm

00:03:32
most proud of and just just making my family proud making my mom proud that's

00:03:37
yeah i you know that anything everything else is a bonus yeah that's that's

00:03:43
kind of yeah that's that's my main thing.

00:03:46
That's powerful patrick really thank you for sharing that

00:03:49
it's very clear family drives you you

00:03:52
know you know the most when it comes to you know what

00:03:55
you're doing and who you are and your business and and

00:03:58
and as a result of that you're also seeing the benefits and

00:04:01
the fruit and the profits from that as well which is beautiful but yeah

00:04:05
i think um you know at the end of the day it's um you know

00:04:08
it's it's giving you all and you know letting your and

00:04:11
then i think what makes it worthwhile is the family behind

00:04:14
you and seeing them seeing you do great and seeing

00:04:18
you kind of like contribute something and making them

00:04:21
proud i think that also kind of gives you a sense of satisfaction that nothing

00:04:25
really can't in in this in this life of course i mean god is up there but you

00:04:29
know it really is a driving force and i i know the power of you know family

00:04:34
you know just wanting to make family proud wanting to leave something behind

00:04:37
you know it really is something thing,

00:04:39
you know, deep to the core of your soul that,

00:04:41
you know, you can't really explain, you know, what that means.

00:04:44
So I totally, totally understand where you're coming from.

00:04:47
And, you know, I'm sure it's going to continue to be a driving force for you.

00:04:51
On the topic of motivation, what would you say to aspiring entrepreneurs or,

00:04:58
you know, or creators or people that want to maybe start a business or start something? Yeah.
