Adrian catches up with British-Ghanaian Short Film Producer, Isaac Ameyaw, at the Big Screen Film Premiere of his seventh short film release, ""Killsplaining: The Faith of Christian Hitmen". This film is inspired by a number of true stories in America that strangely involve Pastors hiring hitmen to assassinate specific people.
Film Plot: Sandra Mokena is a reluctant recruit in a covert Christian hitman organisation, trained to assassinate in the name of righteousness. But when her conscience clashes with the mission, she must decide: follow orders or find her own salvation.

[00:00:00] Hey everyone, Adrian here. Now in this episode you're going to hear me have a conversation with British Ghanaian short film producer Isaac Amayar who's also a creative writer and a producer and also the founder of Ike Motivation Media. So they produce a ton of short films since the lockdown period and this is the seventh one that we're going to have a discussion about.
[00:00:23] And essentially Isaac is known for creating short web films online mainly featured on YouTube that tell stories that we can all relate to in life and what makes them very unique is that they always have a twist to them and they always have some kind of spin-off or some kind of cliffhanger. So in this film it's called Killsplaining and this film is actually inspired by true stories. Now strangely enough believe it or not there are a number of pastors in America and I do not endorse this, I do not glorify this.
[00:00:52] But there are a number of pastors in America who have hired hitmen to kill one person or another whether it's a daughter's boyfriend or whether it's somebody else. And this was something that Isaac stumbled upon and he thought we'd be able to use this as inspiration for his latest film but to use it in a way that will help people improve their moral compass and bring some kind of edification and some kind of inspiration to people's lives.
[00:01:20] So in this episode you're going to hear me speak with Isaac. We have a walk and talk conversation outside of the big screen premiere that took place in North London this week and we're just going to talk about what the film is all about. So yeah the film is called Killsplaining, The Faith of a Christian Hitman. It's now rated on YouTube. I will leave the link in the description below so you guys can check it out on YouTube.
[00:01:48] And you're also going to hear me speak to one of the actors that featured in the film after my conversation with Isaac. So I hope you guys enjoy this one. If you haven't seen Isaac's interview with myself in the past which came out about a year ago, we'll also leave that in the description below. And I'll catch you on the other side. Thank you. So Isaac, could you tell us about the inspiration about the idea?
[00:02:16] Yes, so the inspiration and the idea is finding out that in news articles about Christians had tried to hire hitmen and kept getting caught. There was always an undercover to catch them. And so for, okay, wouldn't it be an interesting idea if there was an organisation that provided a service in a safe and secure way by clearly being satire to explore cults, to explore bondage, to explore Bible misuse and taking Bible out of context.
[00:02:45] Yeah, I think it's quite genius because I mean it really depicts what happens real life in the church for you to come up with a film like that. And how many short films are you on right now as a producer? Was this number seven? Seven. I think this is number seven. I can't remember now. I'm losing track. I think this is number seven. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And would you say this is up there in terms of some of the favourites that you've done? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:03:14] So I think whilst you were airing the premiere just earlier on, you mentioned that you had the idea in September and then you wrote it. So you wrote it in September and then you cast it the next month? October and then filmed in November. November, yeah. And then January, of course, December's Christmas. You've got to take a break. What was that like? It's like it's back to back. Yeah, just work, innit? Yeah, it has to be done. And I enjoy it anyway.
[00:03:42] So, yeah. So you just like after work, weekends, grind. You know what I mean? Just, yeah. Amazing. And what did it take? I mean, this is the first short film that I've seen of yours that you've managed to get into, you know, the big screen. Talk us through, you know, why was this the first film that you wanted to put in the big screen in terms of letting people come and watch it? Sure.
[00:04:08] Because I feel the more, with anything, the more you do it, the better you get at it. Yeah. And so it's like, I felt confident enough in it. Okay, actually, yeah. Put it in a cinema before you put it into the, and put it online. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So just, yeah. So like in the earlier ones, I wasn't as confident in them. Because I was, you know, when you're new, you're still learning. So you're making more mistakes.
[00:04:36] So the more I do, the better I get, and the more confident I am in it. It's like, okay. And then also, also, I feel like because the actors are not paid, none of us are paid. We don't make any money off this, right? So the screening is sort of like a celebration. You know what I mean? It's a celebration of all the hard work that has gone on. Makes sense. It makes sense. And how did it make you feel, all of the people that came out to watch you? Oh yeah, nah, nah, nah. I felt blessed, man. I felt blessed, man. And especially like on a school night, you know what I'm saying? On a weekday, people got work in the morning.
[00:05:04] But people came, man, from all over London to just, yeah, to show love, man. And that's, yeah, man. And how, what's the most challenging thing about doing a short film? I mean, I was watching it and I felt that almost, you know, I was like, wow, like I'm going to be here for quite some time. But I remember that it is a short film. And just as I was getting into it, that's when it stopped. And I think you have an amazing thing of writing such fantastic content. Where people are actually hooked in just as it ends.
[00:05:33] So like, how does that generally make people feel that it's, you know, they're in the cinema and then they're watching a short film. And then once they get into it, it ends. Yeah. Is that, that's the whole... That's intentional, isn't it? Leaving on a cliffhanger. And then, because these things, if it does, well, there'll be more. Do you know what I mean? Yes. Even like, I remember when I was watching Squid Game season one. Yeah. Like, and Squid Game and also what's the, um, Rap Man's thing? Yeah. Um, Supercell. Supercell.
[00:06:03] Every episode ended on a cliffhanger. Finally, Isaac, um, what's, what's, what's you got, what you got planned next in some short films? Well, just next is just resting. Yeah. And then, yeah, because normally, because it takes a lot of effort to do. Yeah. Like I need a creative break. Almost like to replenish. And then we go again. So now it's just rest and promoting this. Excellent. Because it comes out tomorrow. Okay. 12 p.m. Ike Motivation Stories YouTube channel. As well as the storyline of the other characters. Um, yeah. Cool explaining. Check it out.
[00:06:31] So I hope you guys enjoyed that conversation with Isaac. And also the conversation I had with one of the actors called Aaron Dinel. So we're going to leave all the links below in terms of his latest film. You can also check out his YouTube channel. And I'm also going to leave a link in terms of where you can see our last interview that we did about a year or so ago. Um, do you guys want me to speak to more TV, entertainment and media people? Please let us know.
