KEY TAKEAWAYS

On average every 3 years, the rental market culture shifts

There’s a common issue in Ghana where people book accommodation via airbnbs, booking.com, etc, and people find its double booked

Living ghana is a pun for “ live in ghana”

A lot of leads have from double bookings for living Ghana

Living Ghana’s USP is to not force people or apply pressure, as well as their transparency and their ability to go above and beyond the call of duty. They also check the properties out themselves and take photos as well themselves to ensure quality and authenticity to clients. They don’t leave any details out. They also do video walkthroughs.

Quote: “the whole point of living Ghana, is to take away the headache”

Up to the year of the return period, people just wanted to stay in east legon due to word of mouth. The following year in 2020, people moved towards Airport, Osu, Cantonments and Labone

Tse-Addo is another up and coming area

Airport Hills is more for people with dream homes. Ghana’s equivalent of Beverly Hills

As diligent, considerate and efficient living Ghana is, there are times where they have had to turned down landlords and customers, to maintain their reputation

TIPS FROM LIVING GHANA

1/ Make sure you do your due diligence well and ask as many questions as you can

2/ Get a 2nd opinion or inspection on the property you want to rent out

3/ Ask for recommendations from friends and family on rental accommodation providers

4/ Check the washroom and the A/C – The external apperance A/C will tell you everything you need to know about the property

5/ Utilities are typically not included in the rental price. Double check if these things aren’t included

6/ Ask for an invoice before you pay (So you can always go back to the paper trail)

7/ The apartments prices are converted to dollars for simplicity sake, but are really charged in cedis

The owners/landlords prefer to be paid in dollars. When they convert from cedis, it can impact their margins a tiny bit.

Living Ghana is now expanding into new ventures. Listen to the episode to find out what these are
